PMy vision for San Joaquin County is one that I believe we all share. I see San Joaquin County as a place where families and businesses feel safe to live and prosper. I see a county where farmers can grow their crops and ranchers can raise their livestock without the fear of finding their equipment or property stolen or vandalized each morning. I see a county where families want to raise their children because they know they will be safe at our schools and in our neighborhoods. And a county where businesses want to be located, bringing jobs and economic stimulus, knowing their employees will be safe and happy. I see a county that is the home of businesses that can and will flourish due to our ideal proximity to the interstates, railroads, major cities and the Port of Stockton.
I can make this vision a reality and we don't have to reinvent the wheel to do it. What we need is strong leadership. We need a Sheriff that will unify the law enforcement communities across San Joaquin County. A Sheriff that will reach out to all the other law enforcement agencies and departments in the county to share resources, ideas, and intelligence. A Sheriff that realizes that if we want to make San Joaquin County a place where criminals fear to tread, then we must work together to hunt down those who wish to victimize our citizens. We must be willing to rehabilitate those who wish to get out of the life of crime and offer help to those who battle addictions.
I see a San Joaquin County where families and businesses feel safe to live and prosper.
I will implement a Homelessness Task Force to deal with all facets of the homelessness issue. I will take back control of our jail from the State of California and secure the facility. I will staff our School Resource Officer Program, and I will work with the District Attorney to ensure proper sentences for those who victimize our citizens. I will ensure a safe and harassment-free work environment in the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department, and I support the separation of the Sheriff from the Coroner's office and the formation of a Medical Examiner-Coroner Office. I would also support an independent investigation by the Attorney General’s Office into possible tampering with death investigation results by the current Sheriff.
